Salary Increases for State Employees

UPCOMING INCREASES

CFA, APC, and Teamsters

California Faculty Association (CFA – Unit 3), Academic Professionals of California (APC – Unit 4) and Teamsters 2010 (Unit 6) have completed negotiations for the 2023/2024 salary increases for its members and the Board of Trustees have ratified the collective bargaining agreements. The Chancellor’s Office (CO) issued the technical letters that define campus processing details for these 2023/2024 general salary increases.

CFA, APC and Teamsters base salary increases will be incorporated into the May 2024 paycheck (May 31, 2024 issue date). The retroactive portion (July 2023 – April 2024) of the salary increase will issue on a separate check starting the first week of May.

CFA (Unit 3)

  • 5% General Salary Increase (GSI) effective July 1, 2023 will be applied to the individual salary rates of eligible employees. An employee must have been on active pay status or on leave in a CFA position between July 1, 2023 and the date of the mass update (April, 25, 2024) to be eligible for the 2023/2024 GSI.
  • Salary Range Minimum Increases beyond 5% GSI
    • The salary range minimums, SSI maximums, and salary range maximums for all faculty classifications will be increased by the 5% General Salary Increase amount effective July 1, 2023.
    • The salary range minimums of Lecturer A and Lecturer B classifications, which include corresponding assistant professors, coaches, counselors, and librarians, will be increased an additional $3,000 annually each for academic year appointments and the equivalent for other pay plans.
  • Department Chair Increases
    • Employees in Department Chair classifications (job codes 2481 and 2482) will receive a minimum increase of $80.00 per month to the flat portion of their chair position stipend. Chairpersons of departments of 18 or more full-time equivalent faculty (FTEF) will receive an additional increase of $40.00 per month for a total stipend increase of $120 per month. Department Chairs with a chair stipend that already exceeds the new minimum stipend amount will not receive an increase.
    • These Department Chair stipend increases are effective July 1, 2023. All eligible employees who were active in a Department Chair position from July 1, 2023, through April 25, 2024 will receive the appropriate increase to their chair stipend. The increases will be processed after the 5% General Salary Increase.
  • Salary Rate Increases for Self-Support Extension Appointments (PCE Appointments)
    • The salary rates for self-support instructional appointments (job code 2322) will be increased by 6.2% effective July 1, 2023. This increase will be applied to all payments issued on or after July 1, 2023, through April 25, 2024.

APC (Unit 4)

  • 5% General Salary Increase (GSI) effective July 1, 2023 will be applied to the individual salary rates of eligible employees. An employee must have been on active pay status or on leave in an APC position between July 1, 2023 and the date of the mass update (April, 25, 2024) to be eligible for the 2023/2024 GSI.

Teamsters 2010 (Unit 6)

  • 5% General Salary Increase (GSI) effective July 1, 2023 will be applied to the individual salary rates of eligible employees. An employee must have been on active pay status or on leave in a Unit 6 position on July 1, 2023 to be eligible for the 2023/2024 GSI.

Payroll will be working through any fallout to ensure that full pay is received by all eligible APC, Teamsters and CFA employees. Please contact your Payroll Technician  if you have not received your increase or retroactive payment by June 30th.

CSUEU, UAW and UAPD

Payroll is actively reconciling and working with State Controller’s Office (SCO) to resolve identified issues with some CSUEU, UAW, and UAPD 2023/2024 GSI payments. There are two locations are available to view 2023/2024 retroactive pay increases for CSUEU, UAW and UAPD employees.

  1. Cal Employee Connect (CEC) – Use this to view your retroactive payments by pay period.
  2. View Compensation History in Campus Portal – Use this to view your salary increase, the reason for the change, the effective date of the increase and the gross amount prior to and after the change.

CSUEU (Unit 2, 5, 7 and 9)

  • 5% General Salary Increase (GSI) effective July 1, 2023 has been applied to the individual salary rates of eligible employees. An employee must have been on active pay status or on leave in a CSUEU position as of October 31, 2023 to be eligible for the 2023/2024 GSI. This base salary increase has been incorporated into the March 2024 paycheck (April 1, 2024 issue date). The retroactive portion (July 2023 – February 2024) of the salary increase issued on a separate check.

UAW (Unit 11)

  • 5% General Salary Increase (GSI) effective July 1, 2023 has been be applied to the individual salary rates of eligible employees. An employee must have been on active pay status or on leave in an UAW position as of July 1, 2023 to be eligible for the 2023/2024 GSI. Any students reappointed in 2023/2024 into the same class and range as in fiscal year 2022/2023 are also eligible for the GSI.  This base salary increase has been incorporated into the March 2024 paycheck (April 1, 2024 issue date). The retroactive portion (July 2023 – February 2024) of the salary increase issued on a separate check.  

UAPD (Unit 1)

  • 5% General Salary Increase (GSI) effective July 1, 2023 has been applied to the individual salary rates of eligible employees. An employee must have been on active pay status or on leave in a UAPD position as of July 1, 2023 to be eligible for the 2023/2024 GSI. This base salary increase has been incorporated into the February 2024 paycheck (March 1, 2024 issue date). The retroactive portion (July 2023 – January 2024) of the salary increase issued on a separate check.
