Center for Healthy Communities

Advancing Health Equity

The Health4All program assembles college students, as leaders, to build a movement around health equity and address issues that impact their health and well-being. This project creates a Healthy Equity Program within Center for Healthy Communities (CHC) to engage college students in capacity building, civic engagement, storytelling, and advocacy.

Students participate in trainings and learn about community needs by working alongside community programs to address health disparities. Working with local schools and youth groups, they identify issues and make changes to improve their campus and/or community environments and practices.

Students use these experiences to tell a narrative around an issue and photos and videos to create a narrative for change. With a lens on health equity and advocacy, they educate policy makers on issues they've experienced personally or throughout their internship career. CHC builds on partnerships with statewide organizations to pair the Health4All program to statewide opportunities and initiatives.
