CURE-E Course: Discrete Mathematics (MATH 217), Spring 2024

Project Title: Discrete Mathematics with the “SET” Game

This CURE-E is closely related to discrete mathematics and involves many of the main concepts studied in an introductory course such as Math 217. A successful completion to the project requires the self-discovery of set theory, combinatorics, finite geometry, and other key topics usually studied in Math 217.

It is expected that while carrying out this project students will develop critical thinking and the ability to make conjectures, will discover the interplay between mathematics and other disciplines, and will gain a sense of belonging in the academia.

Finally, this project will promote collaboration among students, a healthy practice that they can adopt in future projects and in their academic lives in general and will encourage students to create their own research projects and to face the challenges that these will certainly present with confidence.
