CURE-E Course: Physics for Students of Science & Engineering: Mechanics (PHYS 204A), first introduced with CURE-E Fall 2023

Project Title: Data-logging Tool for Cyclists

Students will use their knowledge of classical mechanics to develop data-logging tools for cyclists. Using knowledge of kinematics, energy, and rotational motion, students should develop a tool or set of tools that measures and records information that is useful or desired by cyclists, such as: total energy used; power output as a function of time; position, and/or position, velocity, and acceleration. This work will contribute to the area of physics education research by providing a real- world application for students to learn physics.
