Teaching Credential in German

CSU, Chico does not offer a teacher preparation program in German. However, students may attain the qualifications needed to teach German in California public schools by: 

           (1) taking the CSET exam in German;

When taking the exam be sure to request that your results be sent to CSU, Chico. If you forget to have your results sent to CSU, Chico you will need to submit a sealed, official copy of your exam results to the School of Education. Passing CSET scores are only valid for ten years and must remain valid until your credential is issued.

Subject matter competence (CSET) and basic skills (CBEST) requirements must be verified before applying to the credential program. 

            (2) completing the degree requirements for a Single Subject Credential.

All prerequisites must be completed before taking credential courses. You may take the prerequisite courses while still an undergraduate. Apply to the credential program during the semester you will finish the prerequisite courses. Applications due March 1 for fall semester, October 1 for spring semester. All prerequisite courses are offered every semester.
