Residence Halls Openhousing

Please consult your housing confirmation (sent in May) and/or assignment packet (sent in August) for your specific move-in date and time.  There will be lots of hall related activities and a movie night each night of move-in!  For more information, consult the resident advisor on your floor!

Get Your Wildcat ID Card

8am-5pm daily in MLIB 142

idcard Get your official CSU, Chico campus identification card – the Wildcat Card! Please bring an official form of photo ID (driver’s license, passport, or Military ID) with you.  The Wildcat Card office is open Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm.

Wednesday, August 19th

WREC Pool Party 7-9pm Wildcat Recreation Center
wrec pool Cool off and beat the heat at the WREC in their awesome pool!  CADEC will be pouring smoothies and Round Table will be serving pizza while a DJ spins tunes to float by.

Thursday, August 20th

Trip 'N Dip 12noon-3pm, Departs from Sutter Courtyard
one mile Adventure Outings invites you to your first Upper Park adventure!  Adventure Outings will be sending three vans full of students to Upper Park for a short hike and swim at Alligator Hole.  Each van can only hold 12-15 participants, so get there early to secure a seat!  The trip leaves at 1:00pm sharp and is FREE to students!


Thursday Market #wildcatstyle 6-9pm, meet at Laxson Hall
thursday market logo Say hello to your new downtown!  What a luxury to be within walking distance to campus for all kinds of retail and vendor services!  Enjoy the world famous Thursday Night Market featuring food, crafts and entertainment.  You'll get a complimentary dinner ticket good for any one of 10 local food vendors who will be dishing it up right downtown!   Check in at Laxson Auditorium for your food voucher and join a group to walk to the plaza. Prizes, music and food make this the "must attend" event of Wildcat Welcome!
Moon on Movie I 9pm at Glenn Lawn
outdoor movie logo Keep it cool on the Glenn Hall lawn for a late night movie showing of a current theater hit on an outdoor screen.  Kick back with free popcorn to enjoy a first run flick! Remember to bring your own blanket or lawn chair.

Wildcat Welcome Parent Reception 9am-11am at Alumni Glen on campus
parent reception Parents, join us for the Wildcat Welcome Parent's Reception in Alumni Glen while your student is at their welcome and mandatory department meeting. Hosted by the Chico State Parent Advisory Council, we invite you to meet with the University President Paul J. Zingg, vice presidents from student affairs, advancement, and academic affairs and with staff from many of our departments and colleges. The reception includes continental breakfast fare (including coffee) in one of our most beautiful campus locations along the creek.
Big "C" Welcome Ceremony 9:30am at Field 6 & 7 behind University Stadium
cat cam pic Walk in as a new student, but walk out as a Wildcat!  Join President Zingg and Associated Students President Deanna Jarquin for your official welcome to campus.  Meet other new students in your major as you gather to prepare to march to the mandatory department meetings.  Kick things off by posing for the incoming Class of 2015 commemorative photo.  You'll want to have a copy of this to show off at graduation!  Faculty, staff and students are welcome and all participants get a free Chico State Alum pennant, courtesy of Chico State Alumni Association!

WREC It! Logo Known throughout campus as “The WREC”, come explore all the opportunities awaiting you at the Wildcat Recreation Center. Think all you can do is lift weights or run on a treadmill? So untrue! There’s something for everyone, and this is the perfect time for you to get the scoop on everything this state-of-the-art facility has to offer.

Transfer-mation Logo At the Wildcat TransferMation, we celebrate Transfers the Wildcat Way! This casual and fun event provides an opportunity to meet other incoming transfer students, current Chico State students, and University staff. Prize drawings will be held every half-hour... including $100 Wildcat Store gift cards. We'll provide snacks, music and optional activities for your enjoyment. We hope to see all new transfer students at the Wildcat Transfer-mation - the perfect beginning to an amazing, two-year, Chico experience!
Rock the Block 6-9pm at Sutter Courtyard
rock block pic The Sutter Courtyard will come alive with interactive games, great food and live music!  The music kicks off at 6pm along with yard games and inflatables.  When the sun goes down - glow sticks will light up the night!  Come Rock the  Block with us!

Meet with professors and students to get the low down on what life will be like managing your academic priorities.  Ask those last minute questions to get you ready for next week's classes and find out from current students what you need to know to be successful right out of the gate. After your mentoring session, earn your ticket to the Wildcat Roar Reception featuring food, prizes and the inside scoop directly from your peers on how to navigate the college scene successfully in your first year and beyond!Locations will vary and you will be assigned a time and location from the First Year Experience Office. Check in by Butte Hall at the time assigned to your hall or call the FYE office for more information.
LeadCat 9am-4pm in  BMU Auditorium
leadcat Pre-registration required and the program is currently full.      The LeadCat program was developed as a jumping off point, a place where you can meet other new students as well as current student leaders and supportive staff.  This is a full day of leadership activities where you will meet students involved in Community Service programs, Sustainability, Fraternities and  Sororities, University Housing, and Student Government to name just a few. Maybe you were active in leadership in high school, maybe you weren't, either way this program is for you! No previous leadership experience is required.

Live at Laxson - The Waifs

the waifs image The Waifs are an Australian indie-rock band formed in 1992 by Josh Cunningham (guitar, vocals), and sisters Vikki Thorn (harmonica, guitar, vocals) and Donna Simpson (guitar, vocals). Their tour and recording band includes Ben Franz (bass) and David Ross Macdonald (drums). New students will have a chance to win limited numbers of FREE tickets at preceding Wildcat Welcome events!  CSU Student tickets are only $10 and can be purchased starting Aug. 19th at the University Box Office in Sierra Hall on 3rd and Chestnut or click here to buy online.

The Wildcat Vibe

The Wildcat Vibe is bringing together one main stage featuring today's Hip Hop and R&B music along with 2 other sections that will showcase Latin Dancing and K-Pop, J-Pop and Bollywood. Looking to connect to culture at Chico State, come and join us for The Wildcat Vibe.

CLUBTACULAR - Student Involvement Fair 11:am to 2pm on Trinity and Glenn lawns
clubtacular logo You are now a Chico State student and Chico State students are known for their involvement!  Come to CLUBTACULAR to meet and greet over 100 clubs and programs spanning from academic, greek, sports, activism, cultural, spiritual, honors and special interest.  Everything from general membership opportunities to events to, in some cases, internships available.  If you plan to do more than just study...CLUBTACULAR is your ticket doing more than just getting a degree.  Free BBQ from the Bear with student I.D.!!
Midnight Pancake Breakfast I
10:00pm-1am at Sutter Courtyard
pancake picture Nothing ever tastes so good as breakfast foods at midnight!  Join the University Housing and Food Service gang for a midnight pancake feed.  Pancakes, butter, syrup, and all free to students.  Remember, nothing good ever happens after midnight...but right up until then, the pancakes will be flowing!

Saturday August 29th

beChico! - Day of Service 9am-2pm, Check in at the WREC (2nd and Cherry)
bechicologo Join our incoming class, current student leaders, and Community Action Volunteers in Education (CAVE) as we give back to the community in a collective effort to clean-up downtown, campus neighborhoods, parks, community gardens, and local non-profit agencies. Start your college career off right by volunteering --- it’s the Wildcat Way!  Register online http://vols.pt/3yejSo  before the event.  There will be limited walk up registration on the day of the event.  Check-in starts at 9:00 a.m. at the WREC.  All groups will meet back on campus for prizes and free BBQ from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Bring your student ID, a water bottle, hat and wear close toed shoes (no flip-flops or sandals!).  Volunteers under 18 years old must have their parent or guardian sign waiver and bring it to registration.  Click here to download waiver for parent signature!

hypnotist Join us for a free live performance with Hypnotist Brian Imbus!  Whether you want to be part of the show or just to watch and laugh with your friends this will be a great event!

job fair Meet local employers, both on and off campus, and find out about part-time jobs available now!
Thursday Market 6pm-9pm Downtown Chico
thursday market logo We showed you the way last Thursday so now you know how to get there.  The Thursday Market is a Chico staple that runs until September 24th and then picks up again in April.  Features include food trucks, crafts, locally grown fruit, veggies and flowers, along with entertaining musical acts.  Ranked one of the top five farmers markets in California, this is something that should appear on your regular schedule while you live in Chico!

Friday September 4th

Friday Campus Concert 6pm at Sutter Courtyard
concert The Sutter Courtyard comes alive the First Friday of the month with local musicians. Stop by and enjoy the tunes!

Midnight Pancake Breakfast II
10pm to 12 midnight at the BMU Auditorium
pancake picture Another chance to feel the joy of breakfast served at night!  This time, let your Associated Students Government and CADEC treat you right with a stack of pancakes and all the fixin's!  Check in for a meal and you might win one of many fabulous prizes and giveaways.  Free with student I.D.!

Saturday September 5th

Free Double Feature Movie
7pm and 9:30pm at the El Rey Theater, 230 W. Second St.

It's an ACA acapella kind of night at the El Rey downtown!  Join us for Pitch Perfect I followed by Pitch Perfect II for a double feature that hits all the right notes!  Free to Chico State Students only...MUST SHOW ID!  Aca Taco for the first 100 people to the first show and free candy to the first 100 to the second show!

Sunday September 6th

Choose to Cruise Meet at Sutter Courtyard at 11am for the ride to Bidwell Bash BBQ
bike pic Choosing to ride a bike around Chico is made easy when you get a guided tour to Chico’s famous Bidwell park, a FREE lunch, and a chance to win biking themed prizes!  This short ride welcomes ALL students, so no bike, no problem.  You can literally win and spin by checking in for a chance to win one of six lovingly restored bikes courtesy of the AS Bike Cart.   So, remember, when deciding your transportation around Chico - Choose to Cruise!
Bidwell Bash and BBQ 11am to 3pm at One Mile Picnic Area
one mile pic Spend your Sunday afternoon basking in the beauty of Bidwell Park with your Government Affairs Elected Officers AND get a free lunch! Grab a friend and bike, take a shuttle or walk to One-Mile at Bidwell Park and we'll provide the BBQ, GAMES and FUN!​  Shuttles available from UV Village or Whitney Hall, or join us at Sutter Courtyard and Choose to Cruise for the bike ride over!

Monday September 7th

Wildcats Can!
11:00am in the BMU Atrium
canned food Who can put a dent into hunger?  Wildcats Can!  This is the culminating activity after two weeks of a canned food drive focused on FILLING THE PANTRY for the Hungry Wildcats Program.  This program focuses on distribution of supplemental food to Chico State students in need, and will conclude with a giant Wildcat Logo built from donated food displayed in the BMU Atrium on campus.  Are you a Chico State Alum?  You can help too!  Drop off any donations to the Chico State Alumni Association office at Sapp Hall 238 Normal Avenue to contribute to this cause.  Who can take care of themselves and their brothers and sisters?  Wildcats Can!
