Fees indicated below will include participation in all regular conference sessions, tours and workshops except where indicated on the Conference Highlights page:

Faculty/Staff and General Audiences:

  • Full 3-Day conference package $50.00 includes:
    • 3-day conference access at CSU, Chico for all regular sessions, keynote presentations, featured speaker presentations, and tours (except where indicated on schedule)
  • 1-Day package $20.00 includes:
    • Conference attendance for one day only, March 1, 2 or 3, 2012 at CSU, Chico for all regular sessions, keynote presentations, featured speaker presentations, and tours (except where indicated on schedule)
  • Conference Moderator Volunteer Option:
    Volunteer as a conference moderator and you could attend for free. Email to sign up as a Moderator Volunteer. Moderators are responsible for:
    • Speaker coordination before conference
    • Introduction of speakers before presentations, escorting, and on-site media needs
    • Room control during presentations to comply with Fire Marshal and Conference rules and regulations
    • Session check-in and statistics
  • 4 moderator volunteer hours = 1 full day conference access
  • 8 moderator volunteer hours = 2 full days conference access
  • 12 moderator volunteer hours = 3 full days conference access
    NOTE: free conference free access days are full days only, no split access days, March 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Limited opportunities available so contact us ASAP at


  • FREE admission to all regular conference sessions, keynote presentations, featured speaker presentations, and tours (except where indicated on schedule)
    Includes all University, Community College, and K-12 students with a valid student ID card, or with a registered faculty member.


  • FREE for all regular sessions, keynote presentations, featured speaker presentations, and tours.
    Pre-registration required by January 31st to validate status.

Note: All sessions are on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-registration does not guarantee you a seat in all sessions so you are encouraged to arrive early as space in some sessions may be limited.

Please make sure you check in at the registration tables at the south entrance of the Bell Memorial Union upon arrival.
Registration tables will be open:
Thursday, March 1st from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Friday, March 2nd 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 3rd from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Terms of Sale

Cancellations must be submitted in writing and received by us before February 24, 2012. Registrants will be refunded in full, less a $5 administrative fee. Mail refund requests to:

If your cancellation notice is received after February 24, 2012, you will be refunded your registration fee, less a $15 administrative fee. No substitutions will be allowed. No shows forfeit all registration fees.

Parking Information:

Parking Structure located at 2nd and Cherry Streets, 3rd floor and "G" spaces only. Purchase a ticket at ONLY the 3rd floor dispenser using code 0301 Thursday and Friday for a special conference rate of $3.00 per day. Cash, coin, Visa and Master Card are accepted. (Saturday no permit required).
For cash or coin purchase, exact change is required, the permit dispensers do not give change. Please DO NOT park in any stall posted Reserved. Parking lots are enforced from 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Permits must be clearly displayed on the dash of your vehicle.

Ridesharing to the conference with Zimride!

We don't want anyone to miss out on the conference fun, so save some money and the environment by using Zimride to carpool to "This way to Sustainability".

Whether you want to be a driver or a passenger, Zimride is a fun way to meet other conference attendees and save money. Similar to Facebook, Zimriders can view profiles displaying favorite in-car music and radio stations before deciding to share a ride. It's quick and easy to sign up!


Lodging at the Conference:

There are many hotels, motels and bed & breakfasts in Chico, and many within walking distance of the conference. If you are planning to stay over night we encourage you to make reservations early.

As one of our conference sponsors Oxford Suites Chico Is offering special discounted rates during the conference:

This rate includes a full hot breakfast buffet and evening reception with drinks and appetizers.  They are 100% wireless, have a business center, fitness center and complimentary shuttle service to and from the Chico Airport.

Reminders for Registered Participants:

In support of our Zero Waste efforts we are not providing or purchasing new name badges or sleeves.  If you prefer to use a name badge please bring an old one with you to practice reuse!

To help us accomplish our ZERO WASTE GOAL for this event please be conscious about your waste when considering what to bring to and purchase during the conference. Trash cans will be removed from the conference session rooms, and we hope that you can help us divert waste from the landfill by recycling and composting everything possible in the various spaces designated and provided for you at the conference.

Recording devices are prohibited at all sessions, workshops, tours, and keynote presentations during the full 3 days of this conference unless specific approval is granted in writing, in advance, by the Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development.

Remember to bring your reusables: water container, cloth napkins, tote bags, etc. We offer free filtered water in our recently remodeled drinking fountains, complete with bottling-filling spigots!
