Academic Advising Programs

Anna Flores

Academic Advisor & Educational Equity Specialist

Anna graduated with a Bachelor’s in Social Work (BSW) in 2015 and a Master’s in Social Work (MSW) in 2016, both from CSU, Chico. As a non-traditional transfer student from Butte Community College, Anna continued her involvement in student clubs and organizations during her undergrad and graduate programs at Chico State. Two, in particular, L.E.A.D. (Leaders Educating for the Advancement of Dreamers) and REACH (Raising Educational Achievement in Collaborative Hubs), gave her the opportunity to work with first-generation students to achieve their educational goals through self-advocacy. She also served as a Peer Advisor for the Summer Orientation Program as well as being an Advising Intern with Academic Advising. It was a combination of all her involvement that bolstered her passion for wanting to help students achieve their academic success. Since joining Academic Advising Programs in 2016, Anna has continued to engage with diverse student populations by providing resources and the guidance needed for their success. Along with her role as Liaison to the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, Anna also plays a key role in working with undeclared students, helping them “try on” different majors by way of exploring general education courses. In her free time, you can find Anna reading, sewing or scrapbooking, working in her garden, or as an Anglophile, watching Doctor Who.
