Jon Staats

Jon Staats, who graduated with a BA in Economics in 2011, is the director of operations for Alternative Energy Systems in Chico, California. Before enrolling at Chico State Jon operated equipment at various construction jobs from 2005 to 2007. While at Butte College and Chico State Jon was a delivery driver for Mountain Mikes Pizza.

After graduation from Chico State Jon started his own business, Black Beauty Chimney Services(opens in new window) where he served as CEO and licensed contractor for the Chico area. According to his LinkedIn page, Jon performed all aspects of design, planning, and lead the execution of construction/remodel projects, and managed 6 employees. Jon applied his economics background to data regression and analysis. His hard work generated $1.3 million in total revenue over 5 years.

After selling his business, Jon freelanced for over 3 years until he signed on with SMD Construction as a project manager in 2020. After working in Visalia as the construction superintendent for a few months, Jon moved back to Chico as superintendent of The Pacific Companies.
