Katherine “Katie” Cherry

Katie Cherry(opens in new window) (Katherine Pitcher), who graduated with a BA in Economics in 2015, is a social specialist(opens in new window) at Build.com(opens in new window) in Chico.  She enrolled at Chico State in 2011, and she made the Dean’s list(opens in new window) from fall of 2012 through spring of 2015.  

While a student at Chico State Katie interned with the Oroville Economic Development Corporation(opens in new window).  “I was very happy to have that opportunity, as I think it has helped open doors with my career,” Katie stated in an email (10/2/16).  During her senior year she also interned with Professor Pete Tsournos and Professor Anita Chaudhry in their Sacramento River Survey for the California Department of Water Resources. 

Katie also found time to volunteer at the Butte Human Society(opens in new window) during her last 3 years at Chico State.   After graduation in June of 2015 Katie took on a job as visual merchandiser for the Sports Authority, a sporting goods retailer in Sacramento, California, where she was the top performing associate. 

At the end of 2015 Katie began working for the Sacramento River Cats(opens in new window) as a corporate partnership trainee in their membership development and sales campaign department.  She worked closely with season ticket holders and helped plan, budget, and organize events designed to increase ticket sales.  “In order to plan a successful and meaningful event, I use statistical programs to gauge the average Sacramento resident's interest in the Sacramento Kings, and use this knowledge to better market to our clients.”

In the middle of 2016 when she began working for the Sacramento Kings(opens in new window) in sales.  While still working for the Sacramento Kings Katie took on a job with the Girl Scouts Heart of Central California(opens in new window) as a sales and analytics specialist.  She moved back to Chico to work with Build.com in the middle of 2017.  (Last Revised 12/16/18)
