  • Field: Analyst/Consultant

Kylie Taylor, who graduated in 2018 with a BA in Economics and two minors in Statistics and Mathematics, is Senior Statistician at Mars Petcare in Nashville, Tennessee.  Kylie graduated with a 3.8 GPA and Honors in the Major.  She also received the Outstanding Student Award and the Gary Francis Award for Outstanding Economic Achievement.

Kylie worked as a Legal Intern in the Law Offices of Sidney L. Alegre in Tracy, California during her sophomore and junior years at Chico State.  Kylie was a member of the Economics Club and the Sigma Kappa Sorority. She also found time to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association for three consecutive years while attending Chico State.

In 2007, before entering Chico State, Kylie founded Eggstraordinary, a company that she owned and managed for almost 7 years.  Eggstraordinary was “an egg business that sold organic, free range chicken eggs to local buyers,” according to her LinkedIn page.  She “successfully ran a profitable business that was able to reinvest in capital.”

After graduation Kylie enrolled in graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin, where she received her MA in Economics with an emphasis in Finance, Econometrics, and Statistics in 2019.  She accepted her current position as senior statistician with Mars Petcare in 2020. In her current position as a Senior Statistician, she works on an international research and design team, developing emerging technology in the pet health and nutrition sector.

“My Econ degree from Chico State was essential in my acceptance into UT, Austin,” Kylie stated in a recent email. “The professors took time to get to know me and encouraged me to continue my love for learning with a graduate degree. I feel that I would have never even applied to grad school if it wasn't for my Economics professors. The program itself has prepared me very well for the material in graduate level classes and provided a strong foundation in economic theory and econometrics. I can confidently say that the strong and well-balanced professors I was lucky to study under at Chico State are the reason for my love of economics, success at grad school, and finding a career I love.”  (Last Updated 4/28/20)
