Zavier Borchelt

Zavier Borchelt(opens in new window), who graduated in 2016 with a BA in Economics, is manager at American Income Life Insurance Company(opens in new window) in Chico, California. In 2011, a year before he enrolled at Chico State, Zavier worked for A to Z Motors(opens in new window) in Winters, California, coordinating the arrival and delivery of trailers. During his senior year at Chico State, Zavier began working for American Income Life Insurance Company where he is the manager.

"As an Economics major I use skills that I learned every day to help in my career in the Insurance industry", Zavier stated in a recent email. "Knowing how the economy functions and what is happening in the world today makes it easier for me to advise clients on how to best protect themselves for their future. In a world with an increasingly complex economy, knowing how to best protect against economic hardship is the key. The company I work for invests in bonds as its primary asset. As an economics major, I learned how the bond market works and I understand what changing bond prices do to yields, which is an important consideration when that is the primary investment tool used by a company. I use concepts that I learned as an economics' major every day when assisting clients. From simply understanding how people in the economy think, to knowing how different economic policies will affect my clients, my economics degree is the key to allowing me to properly serve them."
