CCAA Commissioner's Cup 2018

The Chico State department of athletics is the winner of the 2017-18 Robert J. Hiegert Commissioner's Cup, presented annually to the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) school with the best overall athletics performance in a given academic year. This marks the Wildcats' fifth Commissioner's Cup in the past eight years. After winning four in a row from 2010-11 through 2013-14 they had finished second in each of the past three campaigns.

"Our consistent success can be traced to a supportive campus and community, strong coaching staff, and outstanding student-athletes," Barker said. "Our Wildcat Family gives us a unique special advantage."

Chico State claimed five of the CCAA's 13 titles in 2017-18—men's cross country, women's cross country, men's golf, men's track & field, and softball.

"We are very proud of our athletic program that eight of our 13 teams have reached the NCAA Championships and four finished among the nation's top 10," said Chico State Vice President for Student Affairs Milton Lang. "Anita Barker, our Athletic Director, is providing exemplary leadership along with her outstanding coaches. Our student-athletes are performing at an exceptional level on the field as well as in the classroom."
