Accessing Your Office

March 20, 2020
Debra S. Larson, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dear Colleagues,

As you probably know, Governor Newsom issued a stay at home directive for the entire state of California, effective today, March 20, with no specific end date.

We understand that you may not have retrieved your belongings, equipment, and course materials prior to the Governor’s directive. You may come to your office location anytime from now through the end of business (5PM) on Tuesday, March 24 to gather your things, including over the weekend (Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22). If you do this, please practice proper social distancing. As much as you may want to meet and speak with your colleagues in-person, you should keep at least six feet distance from everyone.

Monday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 24 remain planning days. Remote instruction will begin on Wednesday, March 25 and continue for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester, including final exams.

The week of May 11-15 will remain as the final exam period. While you are not required to give a synchronous (online in real time) or asynchronous (at a student’s own pace) final exam, this is still a required instructional week, and faculty who do not provide final exams must still use this week for instructional activities. More information about final exams during remote instruction will be forthcoming. Final spring 2020 grades are still due by 5PM on May 22.

Separate messages about SETs and RTP were emailed earlier today and posted on our Academic Affairs Announcement webpage.

Additional questions and information about COVID-19, including frequently asked questions (FAQs) for staff, faculty, and students are located on the campus COVID-19 website.  Should you have any other questions, please contact your department chair, dean, or unit supervisor.

Thank you again for all that you have been doing and will be doing to maintain instructional continuity and support the success, health, and well-being of our students and campus community. In times like these, I count myself to be especially fortunate to have such devoted and supportive colleagues.
