The primary immigration document for J-1 visiting students is a DS-2019 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status). This is required to apply for your U.S. nonimmigrant visa.
How to obtain your DS-2019
Three items are required for DS-2019 issuance:
- Financial Support Form - identifies your financial guarantor
- Guarantor's Current Bank Statement (less than six months old) - verifies funding available to pay educational costs
- Valid Passport - photocopy of the bio page
