Ellie Ertle, Ed.D.

Associate Vice Provost for Academic Success Programs

Ellie Clifford Ertle has been teaching in the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice since 2004 and is currently serving as the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Success Programs for Chico State. She received her Ed.D in Higher Education Leadership from University of California, Davis her M.A. in Political Science from CSU, Chico, and her B.A. in Communications from the University of San Francisco. Ellie’s teaching experience and interests focus on American Government, Political Participation, Socialization and Civic Engagement. Her dissertation used Organizational Theory and Equity Frameworks to understand institutional policy change in Higher Education, specifically the California State University’s Graduation Initiative 2025. She is engaged in student success and equity initiative on campus and within the CSU system.

Outside of work, Ellie enjoys spending time with her friends, hiking, gardening, binging on Netflix with her teen children, house projects with her husband and enjoying Chico’s vibrant downtown restaurant and music scene.
