Karin Lightfoot

Dr. Karin Lightfoot earned her Baccalaureate of Science degree in Nursing at Cal State Bakersfield and has been a registered Nurse for 37 years. She worked mostly in the areas of public health nursing and obstetrics. She earned her Master of Science degree in Nursing at CSU Chico and began teaching at Chico State School of Nursing in 2007. She earned her Ph. D in Public Health from Walden University in 2016 and became Director of the School of Nursing in 2017.

As a nurse, she has seen the impact emotional wellbeing has on the overall health and quality of life on individuals, families, and communities. Public health nurses specialize in protecting health and preventing illness and disease. One way of carrying out this mission is to promote healthy environments, including where we work and study. She is honored to be a part of the work being done by Wildcats Thrive Leadership Team to promote health and wellness for the Chico State campuscommunity.
