Cross-Cultural Leadership Center

Marlena Moreno

Cultural Program Coordinator

Marlena Moreno is a fourth-year majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders, with a minor in Health and Wellness. She is from San Bernardino, CA and is very proud to have been born and raised in the Inland Empire. She has seen both the ups and downs in her community and hopes to settle back one day in San Bernardino after college and work with schools to get children with speech disorders the proper help they may desire. She decided to attend Chico State after going on tour to all twenty-three CSU’s when she was in High school, with the help of a program called Gear Up that gave lower income communities the chance to experience college tours and courses while in high school. While on Explore 23, Chico State stood out to her due to the nature and how the community looked tight knit, and she was excited to experience it herself.

During her free time, she enjoys reading books, playing solitaire, hanging around different organizations on campus, listening to music, and singing by herself. Although she might not show it, she misses her cat Phantom and hopes to bring her back to Chico with her once she attains her license. Marlena is excited to be a CPC as she has had prior experience with event making and organizing and hopes she can use it to her advantage. She is the current social chair for a club that is a part of her major called NSSLHA and is excited to see what events she can create to bring various years together.  She has a passion for the LGBTQIA+ community, people dealing with drug abuse, and people of color. She hopes that she can connect with everyone who enters the CCLC in some way and hopes to leave a positive impact on the people who come in.
