Ryan Marek

Ryan Marek, who graduated cum laude with a BA in Economics and a minor in Creative Writing in 2009, is a staff accountant at Robert L. Marek & Co in Sonoma, California.  Ryan says that he took a creative writing class to avoid a G.E. language requirement.  He continued taking creative writing classes because he enjoyed them and they were relatively easy for him, but the University offered only a minor in creative writing. 

Ryan became interested in economics when he wrote a paper on economic policy for his G.E. English class, and he realized that he had more questions than answers about economics.   Ryan was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Key, and Omicron Delta Epsilon.  During his last semester at Chico State Ryan tutored economics students in the Department’s tutorial program. 

After graduation Ryan enrolled at Santa Clara University where he earned his Certificate in Accounting in 2011.  He is currently studying for the CPA exam.  While studying at Santa Clara Ryan found time to volunteer as a mathematics tutor for the Boys and Girls Club of Sonoma.  He joined the accounting firm where he is currently working in 2012.  (Last Updated 8/28/18)
