What is EOP's mailing address?

California State University, Chico

If I am an EOPS participant at my community college, will I automatically be admitted through EOP?

ANSWER: Not necessarily. Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS) and the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) are two separate programs with different admissions criteria. Although many EOPS students meet EOP admission criteria, there are some who will not because they have not been historically, economically, or educationally disadvantaged.

Do I have to give my parents' income if I have been living apart from them for many years?

ANSWER: Yes. The parental income information is used to help establish a family history of disadvantage.

Does the EOP Recommendation Form have to be completed by a teacher or counselor?

ANSWER: Yes. We need someone who has first-hand knowledge of your academic achievement and potential. If you are in a pre-college or support program (i.e., Upward Bound, ETS, AVID, EOPS), it is really helpful if you have one of those counselors submit a recommendation for you.

What are the eligibility requirements for the Educational Opportunity Program?

ANSWER: EOP applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a California resident or AB540 designated status
  • Family has a history of low income based on the EOP Income Criteria (PDF) (PDF)
  • Be the first generation in your family to attend college (parents did not complete a four-year degree, regardless of country)
  • Be an undergraduate applying for the first time

How will I benefit from being admitted through EOP?

ANSWER: EOP provides orientations to help you learn about campus resources and services. While you are enrolled you will be eligible to receive counseling, tutoring, and advising services. The best part is that EOP provides you with a family-like atmosphere to help you during your college experience.

How is the decision made regarding my EOP admission status?

ANSWER: Your completed EOP file will be reviewed by a committee of EOP professional staff. A final decision is made based upon the information provided on the Applicant Information Form, the Recommendation Forms, and your high school transcripts (only for first-time freshmen).

Are all newly admitted freshmen EOP students required to attend Summer Bridge?

Once enrolled in EOP, do I have to submit a new EOP application every academic year?
