Frequently Asked Questions
General EOP and First Time Freshman FAQ
- I applied to EOP for Spring 2023. When will I find out if I got in?
You will receive notice of your EOP admission status through your CSU, Chico email. We will begin to notify students who applied for Spring 2023 admissions by late December 2022.
- I applied to EOP for Fall 2023. When will I find out if I got in?
You will receive notice of your EOP admission status through your CSU, Chico email. We will begin to notify students who applied for Fall 2023 admissions by late April 2023.
- Does the EOP Recommendation Form have to be completed by a teacher or a counselor?
Yes. We need someone who has first-hand knowledge of your academic achievement and potential. If you are in a pre-college or support program (i.e., Upward Bound, ETS, AVID, EOPS), it is really helpful if you have one of those counselors submit a recommendation for you.
- What are the eligibility requirements for EOP?
EOP applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a California resident or AB540 designated status
- Family has a history of low income
- Be the first generation in your family to attend college (parents did not complete a four-year degree, regardless of country)
- Be an undergraduate applying for the first time
- I applied to EOP and was denied. Can I apply to EOP again another semester?
No. EOP determination is set at the time of admissions to Chico State. You may only apply to/join EOP prior to starting at Chico State. If you’ve already been accepted to Chico State and have started taking courses at Chico State, you are no longer eligible to apply to EOP.
- Does EOP accept students with online majors?
No. Chico State offers fully-accredited online courses and degree programs, providing students who do not live in Chico access to a CSU, Chico degree without having to come to campus. Students enrolled in any of the five online degree programs: BA in Liberal Studies (Online), BA in Religious Studies (Online), BA in Sociology (Online), BA in Social Science-Multidisciplinary Studies Option (Online), BA in Social Science-Specialization Studies Option (Online), are not eligible for EOP.
- Once enrolled in EOP, do I have to submit a new EOP application every academic year?
No. Once a student is enrolled at CSU, Chico and accepted into EOP, the student will remain in EOP provided that they honor the conditions of the contract that they signed upon acceptance into EOP.
- Are all newly admitted freshman EOP students required to attend Summer Bridge?
Yes.
