Interested in exploring other majors in the field of health and human services?
Psychology majors and minors are strongly encouraged to obtain advising. Most departments have advising as a mandatory process and assign students to a specific faculty advisor. Psychology doesn’t do this; students are free to select their own advisor.
How does one select an advisor? Use the list below to determine which advisor to contact. Email an advisor to see if their times coincide with your free times. Perhaps your favorite instructor, or a teacher from whom you are hoping to take a class, is now advising. Perhaps one of the advisors is also the coordinator of a special program that intrigues you, such as Honors or PPS. Or maybe a potential advisor has a specialization in an area that fascinates you. Any of these are good foundations upon which to build a relationship with your advisor.
Looking for major course requirements and want to track your progress? Here are fillable PDF checklists you can use.
If you declared your major during or after Fall 2018, use the Checklist for the Psychology Major 2020-2021 (PDF)
If you declared your major before Fall 2018, use the Checklist for the Psychology Major 2017-2018 (PDF)
When reaching out to an advisor through email, please choose one advisor and only send your email to that advisor. | |
