UED Research Symposium and Awards Celebration - Wednesday, May 1, 2024, 9:00-11:30am. Colusa 100. We are happy to announce the inaugural UED Research Symposium & Awards Celebration, a showcase of faculty and student research and creative work related to equity and student success in higher education. The event is also an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding work of students, faculty, and staff who are advancing our understanding of equitable academic success. The event is hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Education and Academic Success and the Office of Faculty Development.

Student Research Competition(opens in new window)  - Tuesday, March 5, 2024, 5–9 PM in the new Science Building.  The Student Research Symposium is designed to promote and recognize excellence in student scholarly research and creative activities. This annual symposium gives undergrad and graduate students from across campus the opportunity to present their research or creative work in one of three ways: the 3-Minute Mini Presentation, 10-Minute Presentation, and a Poster Session. Top presenters are awarded cash prizes. Ten competitors are offered a chance to advance to the statewide CSU Research Competition(opens in new window) in late April, competing against other outstanding scholars in the California State system.

Sense of Place & Civic Expo (opens in new window)Thursday, April 25, 2024, 11 AM-3 PM in Selvesters 100.  Sense of Place & Civic Expo are biannual events are designed to foster active student participation in mutual engagement with the campus and community. The Civic Expo from 2:15-3PM in Selvesters 100 will host various campus and community organizations take part to inform students of the resources and opportunities they offer. College of Natural Sciences Poster Session(opens in new window)Monday, April 29, 2024, for 10 AM-4 PM in Colusa 100. The annual College of Natural Sciences Poster Session is an established event where students, faculty and clubs have the opportunity to present their original research or student activities to the College, University and Chico Community. Contact the College of Natural Sciences Dean's office in Science 413 for more information.

Community Coding(opens in new window)Got data and working on analysis? Got questions on using R or other programming languages? Great way to dedicate time to working on that project you've been meaning to get around to. Come and hang out with other coders in a welcoming and supportive environment. Geography Awareness Week(opens in new window) - The National Geographic Society created Geography Awareness Week to raise awareness in American education and spark a passion in geography as both a discipline and a part of everyday life. Each year more than 100,000 Americans participate in Geography Awareness Week. As was proclaimed over 30 years ago, this annual public awareness program encourages citizens young and old to think and learn about the significance of place and how we affect and are affected by it. Every third week of November, students, families, and community members focus on the importance of geography by holding special events.
