Multimedia Recording Studio

The Learning Glass(opens in new window) is a transparent whiteboard paired with a lecture capture system. It allows instructors to write lecture notes while maintaining face-to-face contact with students in a distance learning environment. The recordings can also be uploaded and viewed at a later time by students. All writing on The Learning Glass is mirrored by software in the room so students can view the notes normally.

Instructors present materials from a PC in the studio similar to teaching in a classroom. The exception being that there are no live attendees in the room.

How to Reserve

The multimedia recording studio can easily be scheduled for training prior to its use. Classroom Technology Services recommends a training session with one of our CTS staff before your first session. To schedule a training, please do so by using the MLIB 027B Outlook calendar.

In order to reserve MLIB 027B, faculty should make a request via the room's Outlook calendar. You can find this calendar by opening Outlook. Right click on My Calendars, hover over Add A Calendar, and select From Room List. Type MLIB 027B in the search bar. Once you've added the calendar, simply choose the date and time that you'd like to reserve the space. Add any notes in the reservation, and create the event to have it sent to our team for approval. You can also visit the knowledge base(opens in new window) for more information regarding adding a room calendar within Outlook.

Once you have completed your session, the recording will automatically be uploaded to your Kaltura account. In Blackboard Learn you can add the recordings via Mashup. Users may also edit their videos using Kaltura, Camtasia, iMovie, or a variety of other video editing programs.

Users may request assistance by visiting our office at Meriam Library Room 031A or by calling our hotline at 530-898-5475.
