Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer

The Office of the Chief Information Officer supports Chico State’s mission through a wide range of services and partnerships across the University. Our primary focus is on providing information technology products and services that meet the needs of the Chico State community and achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction. We strive to align technology vision with academic, administrative, and fiscal strategy by integrating institutional processes with the appropriate technologies. As a trusted technology partner to campus, we are widely seen as a leader in providing a robust infrastructure for campus technology needs and in identifying and deploying new technologies that enable academic innovation in teaching, learning, research, and scholarship.

Monique Sendze

Monique SendzeMonique Sendze is the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO). Dr. Sendze has over 23 years of experience leading technology initiatives in state and local government, and higher education having served as Director of Information Technology, Director of Technology Strategy, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Technology and Innovation Officer. Dr. Sendze was recently the Colorado School of Mines' Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Deputy Chief Operating Officer. As the VP/CIO at CSU-Chico, Dr. Sendze oversees the university's central information technology unit, which is responsible for academic, administrative, and research technology services and support. She provides strategic vision and leadership as the University moves toward a more centralized, risk focused, and equitable IT operation, as well as develop policy and prioritization of resources in the rapidly changing information technology environment via her leadership, while also fostering the development of innovative, agile, and adaptable solutions for learning, teaching, research, and data-driven decision making. Dr. Sendze earned a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University with a concentration on Organizational Development. Sendze is passionate about developing information technology organizations that maximize the productivity and customer focus of resources and people in support of education, research, and administrative services. Apart from her technical leadership responsibilities, Sendze leads efforts around organizational change, culture development, leadership development, talent management, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
