Orientation & New Student Programs

Parent & Guest Orientation Program

Families play an important role in students' transition to college. We know that you may have some questions about Chico State and questions about your student’s transition to the university.

Parent and Guest Resources:

1. Attend the Parent and Guest Orientation program. Is your student attending Orientation in-person? If yes, Orientation and New Student programs will be offering a program for parents during in-person sessions. Your student can add your name when they make their reservation. Your student's personal and academic well-being is important to all of us. University staff will present a variety of workshops to parents and guests on topics ranging from student safety, paying for college, course enrollment support, housing, Career Center, life skills needed to thrive in college, and more. Morning coffee/orange juice and a buffet-style lunch, as well as an optional campus tour will be available. While your student is meeting other students in their chosen major, you’ll have a choice of attending several different workshops.

Note: The parent/guest program is a separate concurrent program which means you will be separated from your student for part of the in-person Orientation session days.
