Fraternity and Sorority Affairs

Three students standing with Willie the Wildcat.Welcome to the California State University, Chico Fraternity and Sorority Affairs website. There are 33 fraternities and sororities under the supervision of the Office of Student Life and Leadership. Each fraternity or sorority belongs to one of the three governing councils: the Interfraternity Council (IFC), the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), and the College Panhellenic Council (CPC), which makes up approximately 12 percent of the Chico State student population. All fraternities and sororities were founded on similar values such as academics, service, sisterhood/brotherhood, philanthropy, leadership, civic engagement, integrity, and more.

COVID-19

The university has made the decision to allow students to come back to campus while following COVID-19 guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Butte County, and the State of California. Chapter Presidents are receiving up-to-date information and current guidelines from FSA Staff to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Unrecognized Greek-Lettered Organizations

There are a few of organizations in the community that may portray themselves as university-affiliated fraternities or sororities. Although these organizations may have houses with Greek letters on them, they are not recognized by the University. For the safety of our students and the community, we urge you to take caution when associating with these organizations and their events.

Unrecognized organizations cannot be required to follow University standards. Recognized fraternities and sororities receive consistent training on hazing, alcohol and drug abuse, Title IX resources, mental health, leadership development and much more. The status of recognized fraternities and sororities is evaluated on a regular basis and is dependent on the students ability to comply with the Fraternity and Sorority Affairs Policies and Procedures as well as the Student Code of Conduct.

The following organizations are not recognized or affiliated with the University:

  • Alpha Chi (ΑΧ) - Sorority
  • Delta Psi Delta (ΔΨΔ) - Fraternity
  • Theta Chi (θΧ) - Fraternity
  • Tau Gamma Theta (ΤΓθ) - Fraternity
Title IX
As per Federal mandate, CSU, Chico is required to report any Title IX violations. More information on Title IX and its guidelines.
