LEAD6: Six Roles of a Leader

What is LEAD6?

LEAD6 is a monthly leadership forum (for MPP and Chairs) at Chico State which focuses on the six roles of a leader:

  • Structuring Work: Includes "leading" topics such as: empowerment, job design, structuring work, and delegation
  • Managing Talent: Includes "managing" topics such as: hiring great talent, developing employees, and inclusion
  • Inspiring Performance: Includes "managing" topics such as: ensuring clear goals, managing progress, rewards, goal alignment
  • Building a Team: Includes "leading" topics such as: being a good team player and maintaining good relations
  • Using and Sharing Information: Includes "managing" topics such as: oral and written communication, conveying credibility, and managing financial information
  • Facilitating Change: Includes "leading" topics such as: keeping employees focused on today’s task, preparing employees for tomorrow, process improvement, and change management

During our meetings, we provide networking opportunities, action-based learning, and training in support of holding ourselves accountable to high standards of professionalism.
