Lauren McNamara, EdD, RD

Assistant Professor, Dietetic Internship Director

Lauren is a Registered Dietitian and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science at CSU, Chico. She holds a master’s degree in nutritional science and is a graduate of Chico State. Lauren’s master’s project was examining the effects of the Health At Every Size course on the body esteem, eating habits, and anti-fat attitudes of the college student’s enrolled in the course. Her work was published in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior.

Lauren has worked as a clinical dietitian in Butte and Nevada county and did outpatient counseling at a GI clinic and cancer center. She has been teaching at Chico State since 2014. Lauren is also the Director of the Dietetic Internship here at Chico State, helping to provide our interns with varied and challenging supervised learning opportunities. Her research interests include clinical and community nutrition, disordered eating, sports nutrition, and action research related to program implementation and improvement.

Lauren enjoys spending time with her family, running, skiing, hiking, biking, and, of course, cooking and eating delicious food!
