Positions at WCSP
WellCat Safe Place services are provided through two different avenues. These include Confidential Advocates and Peer-Educators. Our team also consists of Creative Engagement Coordinators, who assist with our digital content.
Confidential Advocacy
Confidential Advocacy can involve drop-in crisis counseling, accompaniment in the Title IX process, supporting someone through a forensic exam at the hospital, explaining the legal process, or assisting the individual with basic needs such as food insecurity or safe housing.
Confidential Advocacy looks like:
- Providing support and resources regarding safety planning, violence prevention, and healthy relationships.
- Performing training and workshops regarding sexual assault, IPV, harassment, sexual exploitation, and stalking to raise awareness and increase safety on campus.
- Supporting folks in their process of obtaining options and accommodations that impact both short- and long-term experience.
Peer Educator Role
The WCSP Peer Educator role is responsible for building relationships with on and off campus resources and facilitating outreach events and programs.
Peer-educators at WellCat Safe Place can look like:
- Facilitating, and maintaining violence prevention programs that educate the Chico State community on creating a safe, non-violent campus environment.
- Overseeing and facilitating outreach efforts including planning events, programs, and tabling collaborations.
Creative Engagement Coordinator
The WCSP Creative Engagement Coordinators are responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Safe Place social media, print material, and general marketing design. This role works in close collaboration with the Peer Educators to ensure accurate and effective content.
Creative Engagement Coordinators utilize their design knowledge to create accessible and engaging work to inform the campus community of upcoming events, WellCat Safe Place services, and resources for individuals in need. Digital deliverables may include Instagram posts and stories, banners for the Safe Place website, and other design solutions as needed. Print deliverables may include flyers, brochures, stickers, posters, and other advertising materials for events and programs.
