International Student Placement

As an incoming international student, unless you have completed a transferable course, your placement into General Education Area 2 Mathematical Concepts and Quantitative Reasoning (Area 2) defaults to Area 2 Ready with Support.
For your first semester at Chico State, your schedule will be enrolled for you including an Area 2 Ready with Support course based on your declared major.
- STEM: If you are pursuing a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major, you are highly encouraged to complete an ALEKS PPL proctored assessment to determine your readiness for STEM courses and the pathway to calculus.
- Non-STEM: If you think placement into Area 2 Ready with Support does not accurately capture your abilities, you can complete a proctored ALEKS PPL assessment to determine your placement level.
