Determining Placement
The California State University (CSU) uses multiple measures to determine readiness for General Education English Composition and Mathematical Concepts and Quantitative Reasoning (GE Area 1A & 2) coursework. The requirements for admission to a CSU differs from criteria used to advise placement.
Further, as instructed by the CSU Supportive Pathways for First-Year Students program, students are required to enroll in GE Area 1A & 2 courses within their first year (if not already completed). For GE Area 2 at Chico State, your placement category and declared major advises your eligibility and pathway.
