Determining Placement
The California State University (CSU) uses multiple measures to determine readiness for General Education Written Communication and Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning (GE Area A2 & B4) coursework. The requirements for admission to a CSU differs from criteria used to advise placement.
As instructed by the CSU Supportive Pathways for First-Year Students program students are required to enroll in GE A2 & B4 courses within their first year (if not already completed). For GE B4 at Chico State, your placement category and declared major advises your eligibility and pathway.
