Samuel L. Winter Awarded Outstanding Thesis for 2023

Samuel L. Winter (MS, Psychology) was awarded Outstanding Thesis for 2023. He wrote and conducted a strong thesis entitled “The Impact of Clinician-Perpetrated Sexual and Gender Minority Microaggressions Upon Client Perceptions in Psychotherapy.”

His review of the literature and outline of his methods were clear and well-written. His data analysis was scientifically sound, and his critical discussion of the results and implications were relevant and timely.

In his nomination, his advisers note that this study is without question relevant to the field of Psychology as the topic focuses on the practice of psychotherapy. In addition to the author's contribution to the field of Psychology, the author clearly advances many of the Chico State's strategic goals. This study undoubtedly displays that the author is a responsible citizen and is able to think critically about diverse matters.

The selection committee agreed and commended Samuel for his contributions to the work of the University and the field of psychology.
