  • BSW & **Pathway BSW (current Child Welfare employee) Title IV-E Application deadline is February 12, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.
  • MSW Title IV-E Application deadline is April 15, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.

  • Title IV-E Informational Meetings

    We hold regular informational sessions for the Title IV-E Program. If you have any questions about our program, please join us at the dates, times and locations listed(opens in new window).

  • BSW Applicants

    You must be accepted into the Professional Sequence prior to applying to Title IV-E.

    Step 1:Apply to the BSW Professional Sequence(opens in new window) 

    Step 2: Once you have been accepted into the Professional Sequence, you may apply for the Title IV-E Program. Please visit either the BSW Title IV-E Program(opens in new window) page or the BSW Pathway Title IV-E(opens in new window) page for additional information. 

  • MSW Applicants

    You must be accepted into the MSW Program prior to applying to Title IV-E.

    Step 1: Apply to the MSW Program (opens in new window)

    Step 2: Once you have been accepted into the MSW Program, you may apply for the Title IV-E Program. Please visit the MSW Title IV-E Program(opens in new window) page for additional information. 

  • Application Directions

    Step 1: Apply for and be accepted into our BSW or MSW Social Work Program

    Step 2: Apply for Title IV-E Program

    • Identify two references; send them a link to the reference form
    • Talk to your agency about supporting you in the program; send them a link to the Agency Support Form (only for current child welfare employees)
    • Write a personal statement
    • Complete the online Title IV-E Application

    Step 3: Participate in the Title IV-E Screening Process

    • Do a quick write as directed
    • Attend a panel interview
    • Continue to monitor your emails for acceptance/non-acceptance into the Title IV-E Program
  • Personal Statement Directions

    In a three-page, double-spaced, 12-point typed essay, please write a Personal Statement that answers all FIVE of the questions listed below. Your statement should be direct and concise. Please include headings to organize your responses. Ensure that your name is provided on your personal statement. Save the form somewhere you can access easily.

    (1) Why do you want to do child welfare work? What parts of the system are of particular interest?
    (2) What personal characteristics do you have that will help you work successfully in the child welfare field? What personal challenges might you face?
    (3) What experience do you have in working with at-risk youth and/or their families? Describe any experiences you have had with mandated clients as well as families involved with the child welfares system.
    (4) What is your experience with being supervised? What worked and what was a challenge? Describe what you need from an internship supervisor to help increase your knowledge, values, and skills in this field?
    (5) What are your career goals for the five years after graduation?
  • Reference Forms

    The Reference Form(opens in new window) must be completed on behalf of all applicants. It must be completed by TWO identified references. This form is required for application to the Title IV-E Child Welfare Training Program. It must be submitted on or before the due date by the references.

    It is your responsibility to provide your references with the link as well as ensure they have submitted it prior to the due date. 

    • Agency Support Form (only for applicants who currently work in child welfare)

      This Agency Support Form(opens in new window) must be completed on behalf of all current public or tribal child welfare employee applicants. It must be completed by ONE individual from agency administration. This form is required for application to the Title IV-E Child Welfare Training Program. It must be submitted on or before the due date by agency administration. 

      It is your responsibility to provide your agency administration with the link as well as ensure they have submitted it prior to the due date. 

    • Application Form

      The Application Form(opens in new window) must be completed by all applicants. It must be submitted on or before the due date by the applicant.

      It must include:

      • Answers to all questions
      • Personal statement
      • Names/email address of TWO references from which we can expect Reference Forms
      • Current child welfare employee applicants (only) the name/email address of ONE identified individual from agency administration from which we can expect the Agency Support Form.
    • Next Steps to the Screening Process (after the due date)

      You should receive an email with important interview appointment information, approximately one to two weeks after the application due date. Please check your email regularly so you don't miss our email!
