Dear Upward Bound student,
These last couple of weeks have been incredibly trying and confusing for all of us. I want to reassure you that Upward Bound staff is working diligently to continue providing you with college preparation and academic services, but perhaps through a different platform. We still don’t have all of the answers, but I can promise you that we’re working daily to figure out a plan to stay connected with all of you.
Summer Program
So many students have reached out to ask if our summer program will take place at Chico State and the short answer is that we don’t know yet. We expect to receive guidance from CSU, Chico Administration in the coming weeks and will definitely pass along that information to you as soon as we have an answer. I will let you know that if the traditional residential program can’t happen this summer, we plan to move to an online summer program. If we end up going that route, we will absolutely provide you with more details.
Technology Needs
Your Upward Bound Advisor will reach out to you this week to ask you a few questions. We want to know if you have internet access at home and if you have a device to access online tutoring, advising and workshops. Please make sure and respond to your Advisor with that information, since that will allow us to quickly figure out the needs of our students. Online Tutoring
I know many of you are still waiting to hear from your school regarding online instruction, whether it will be mandatory and what day it will begin. Our stance will be that as soon as students move to online instruction, you will also be required to start online tutoring. Our tutors are anxious to start helping you succeed in your online classes. We will work with students who don’t have home internet access to find alternative ways to provide you services.
Online Advising
Upward Bound Advisors continue to offer online advising sessions, and you can continue to sign up as you have always done. Please feel free to schedule an online advising appointment with Madison, Justin, Jasmine, Zach and Andrea if you have any questions and need guidance.

Practice social distancing (6 feet distance), wash your hands regularly with soap and water for 20 seconds and keep a routine as much as possible.
