Workshops

Workshops will start this week! Please see below for a list of descriptions of workshops for this fall semester.

Workshop Descriptions:

One Time Events: These events are single-time events and should not be signed up for multiple times:

Admissions Presentations:
Limited to Juniors and Seniors, various CSU and UC admissions presentations will be held. This meeting will focus on learning about the college, how to apply, and why the school might be a good fit. Currently, we have UC Davis, UC Irvine, and San Jose State, but many more are coming. If you’d like to sign up for these, please contact your advisor and provide them the date and presentation you’d like to attend. **You cannot sign up multiple times for the same school but can attend multiple admissions presentations from different schools.

Self-care:
Learn about different exercises and activities to take care of yourself in healthy ways. Andrea will help you cover mindfulness, self-awareness, and stress relief tips. The signup process is through Setmore workshops (instead of clicking tutoring button, click the workshops button).

Time Management:
Learn how to balance the online workload. You may sign up for this event one time per week with either Michela or Kevin (tutors). The signup process is through Setmore workshops (instead of clicking tutoring button, click the workshops button).

Sports in College:
Learn what it takes academically and other tips and tricks to play collegiate sports. Will focus on 3 different levels of athletics. The signup process is through Setmore workshops (instead of clicking tutoring button, click the workshops button). Hosted by Zach Barrett

Resume Building:
Help your resume out by attending this workshop with Madison. You can bring an existing resume or begin to create one from scratch. The signup process is through Setmore workshops (instead of clicking tutoring button, click the workshops button).

Budgeting:
Justin will help you to Learn how to balance a budget, plan for your future, and understand some financial aid (Not a FAFSA workshop!). The signup process is through Setmore workshops (instead of clicking tutoring button, click the workshops button).

CSU, Chico Eta Mu Theta Panel:
A college student panel made up of former UB and minority students of color who will answer questions on their fraternity, going to college as a low income and first generation student, and other hurdles that they have overcome to be successful in a college environment. SSS Information Session, EOP Information Session, and Reach Information Session:
These three workshops are for Seniors and will focus on speaking with a representative from this support program. Each one will be one hour long and cover topics on how/when to apply, who is eligible, the services they can offer while in college, and any other questions you may have. Recurring Workshop:
These two workshops will occur at the same time on the same day for the entire semester. You will be required to attend each of these sessions.

Arduino/Electrical Engineering:
A workshop that will teach the basics of electrical engineering through the use of circuits, breadboards, and other electrical engineering concepts. The workshop is every Friday at 4:00 pm and missing a workshop isn’t advisable. Please make sure you have this timeslot available on your calendar. **This workshop is limited to 8 students and will require advisor approval to join.

CAD and 3D Printing:
Learn about 3D printing and designing for manufacturing in a 3-dimensional space. The workshop is every Tuesday from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm and missing a workshop will set you behind. Please make sure you have this timeslot available on your calendar. **This workshop is limited to 10 students and will require advisor approval to join.
