Applications for Task Team Supervisor (AVAILABLE: CLOSED)
The Upward Bound Projects, a program serving high-achieving college-bound students, has internships available for summer 2023. During Upward Bound's six-week summer program, interns will directly assist in the implementation and supervision of Upward Bound "Task Team Projects."
The projects available for this upcoming summers are:
Upward Bound Summer Yearbook: Design all aspects of a yearbook for the UB Summer Program utilizing various Adobe programs. Responsible for developing yearbook pages, and overseeing the taking of photos, yearbook content, and teaching Adobe programs to students. Coordinate and promote the UB summer program and events through social media and various local media organizations. Responsible for teaching students about public relations, marketing skills.
Multicultural Programs: Educate student participants in the importance of diversity and inclusion. Develop, coordinate, and help a team of students execute a multicultural event for their fellow summer participants. Lesson plans for the team should contain educational curriculum in diversity and inclusion.
Kids Program, Murphy Common: Collaborate with Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP) to coordinate daily programing for children ages 6–12 years old at a low-income housing complex in Chico. Responsible for organizing lesson plans and assisting students in the execution of lesson plans.
Kids Program, La Vista Verde: Collaborate with Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP) to coordinate a program for children ages 6–12 years old at a low-income, agriculturally-based housing complex in Chico. Responsible for organizing lesson plans and assisting students in the execution of lesson plans.
Kids Program, East of Eaton: Collaborate with Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP) to coordinate daily programming for children ages 6–12 at a low-income housing complex in Chico. Responsible for organizing lesson plans and assisting students in executing lesson plans. Bilingual in Hmong and/or having an understanding of Hmong culture and traditions is preferred due to the majority of residents solely speaking Hmong.
Hmong Language Project: Collaborate with UC Berkeley doctoral student to design a culturally responsive and sustaining Hmong language program for the Butte County Hmong community. Responsible for interviewing community members, analyzing interviews, developing and implementing program(s). Also responsible for delegating tasks and responsibilities to high school students. Bilingual in Hmong and/or having an understanding of Hmong culture and traditions is preferred. Two position to fill for this role.
The summer program will take place June 2023 to July 2023. Exact dates to be decided. Regular hours will be Monday – Thursday from 12:30 – 5 p.m. Interns must attend all mandatory staff trainings and orientations (dates TBA). Additional hours may be required during the summer program.
All interns must be current CSU, Chico students who will enroll in and attend an internship class in Spring 2023 (TBA).
