A Friendly Campus Competition: Contests for Individuals, Departments, and Offices

The winners of the 2023 Halloween Contests!

Best Individual Costume: David Barta as "The Tin-Man"

David Barta standing outside Ayers Hall dressed in a beautiful  handmade costume of the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz. His face is painted silver, he carries a fake silver ax, and he has a heart medal stuck to the breast of his suit.

Best Group Costume:  The Office of the College of Humanities and Fine Arts - "HFA Airways"

HFA staff and friends photoshopped into an airport setting.  Three are dressed as flight attendants with a tray of sodas and carafe of coffee.  Two are dressed as pilots.  Five are dressed as passengers with luggage, one is reading the Book in Common, one is touristy with a selfie stick, one looks posh and haughty, two look sick and bundled up. One holds a sign as if looking for a passenger and the final person has a yellow vest and two red lights for directing luggage cart traffic.

Performance: L. Renee Boyd - "Maggie Magpie"

Renee Boyd dressed as a yellow billed magpie.  She is wearing a venetian gold mask with a beak.  Her front is covered with white feathers; she has two beautifully constructed wings arching overhead covered in black feathers, and she's wearing thigh high black leather boots.

Showstoppers in Perpetuity: Associated Students - "Barbie"

 24 staff of Associated Students on the BMU Stage dressed as various versions of Barbie and Ken, including workout Barbie, sporty Barbie, weird Barbie, slumber party Barbie, and the Kens include a couple of real and fake muscle shirts, preppy clothes, and a cowboy hat among others. The backdrop behind them is a scene of several Barbie Dream houses in front of the ocean, presumably a shot from the Barbie movie.

People's Choice Winner: Art and Art History Department - "The Wizard of Oz"

Art and Art History staff dressed in very realistic outfits from the movie Wizard of Oz including Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly lion, the Scarecrow, Glinda the Good Witch, the Witch of the West, the Wizard, and a member of the lollypop guild.  They are gathered in front of a partially sideways whitewashed house made of cardboard, out from under which are sticking two legs in striped stockings and ruby slippers.

Holly Hunt dressed as Professor Plum with a glue gun in the lounge.   Mary Cox dressed as Miss Scarlett in the library with a butter knife. Nicole Clift dressed as Mrs. White with a rope in the music room.  Valerie Wolfe dressed as Mrs. Peacock in the conservatory with a wrench.  Carter Moore dressed as Colonel Mustard in the study with a candlestick. Alex Garcia dressed as Mr. Green in the kitchen with a lead pipe. Casey Lyons dressed as Wadsworth the Butler.

Best Pumpkin Decorating: Tawnie Peterson

A pumpkin entirely covered in marbled blue, purple, and green paint, including the stem.
