2023 Excellence in Agriculture Awards
The Excellence in Agriculture Awards Reception was held May 5, 2023 to recognize the achievements of the College of Agriculture's students, faculty and staff. Additionally this year, a student showcase was hosted prior to the awards ceremony for students to display their research and highlight activities achieved both in and out of the classroom.

Maddie exemplifies the strengths of our college and our integrated academic programs. Maddie’s training has been truly multidisciplinary. She is high performing academically, shows a commitment to agriculture, is civically-engaged, and exemplifies the leadership qualities for which Chico State agriculture students are known.

Staff of the Year: Haydn Clement
As the University Farm Meats Lab Technician, he goes above and beyond serving as a supervisor, mentor, recruiter, and more. He ensures students receive industry tours and hands-on learning. Haydn is inspiring the next generation of meat scientists.Faculty of the Year: Dr. Logan Smith
Dr. Logan Smith has made his mark on Chico State with his trademark enthusiasm, encouragement, and dedication to student success. He was recently recognized by Chico State student organization and leadership education as the 2023 ‘outstanding advisor’ for his work with the Pre-Vet club. Club of the Year: Chico State Line Dancing
The 2023 Club of the Year, announced during the Excellence in Agriculture Reception, is the Chico State Line Dancing Club. This club has been able to provide a social activity accessible for students inside and outside the College of Agriculture. Students are able to meet and connect with people from all different majors during the practices.
