Mechoopda Hall Tour

We acknowledge and are mindful that Chico State stands on lands that were originally occupied by the first people of this area, the Mechoopda, and we recognize their distinctive spiritual relationship with this land, the flora, the fauna, and the waters that run through campus.

Chantyl grew up in San Diego and moved to Chico in 2017 to pursue a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology at Chico State. After earning her bachelor's degree, she continued her education and completed a master's degree in Political Science in 2023.

During her time at Chico State, Chantyl was actively involved with University Housing, serving as a Desk Attendant, Resident Advisor, Summer Conference Coordinator, and eventually as a Residence Life Coordinator. Following graduate school, she spent three years working for a local property management company before returning to her alma mater as a Residence Life Coordinator. She is excited to support students and help foster a positive residential experience.

In her free time, Chantyl enjoys attending local trivia nights, reading, discovering new music, and spending time outdoors through fishing, camping, and hiking. She also enjoys playing volleyball with friends and spending time with her partner and their cat.

Ashley Kainz

Ashley grew up in Orangevale, California, a city about 20 minutes from Sacramento. In 2015, she moved to Chico State to pursue a degree in Communication Design with an option in Graphic Design. While at Chico, she was active in the Housing Department as a Resident Advisor, Desk Attendant, and Senior Resident Advisor. Then she pursued a career in graphic design at a small publication company.

With a burning desire to get back to the field of Higher Education, Ashley worked previously at Cal State East Bay within their University Housing and Residence Life department as an Area Coordinator. Ashley has since returned to her alma mater and is a Residence Conduct Coordinator for University Housing at Chico State. Ashley is currently pursuing their master's degree in Social Sciences with an emphasis in College Student Equity and Success at Chico State.

In Ashley's free time, she enjoys being creative through crafting and designing projects, attending concerts, going to Formula 1 races, hanging out with family & friends, and curling up with a good book.
