Mechoopda Hall Tour

We acknowledge and are mindful that Chico State stands on lands that were originally occupied by the first people of this area, the Mechoopda, and we recognize their distinctive spiritual relationship with this land, the flora, the fauna, and the waters that run through campus.

We are humbled that our campus resides upon sacred lands that since time immemorial have sustained the Mechoopda people and continue to do so today.

Jada Ashley

Jada grew up in sunny Southern California. In 2020, she moved up to Chico to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Chico State as a first-generation student. During that time, she was active in the Housing Department as a Resident Advisor and Desk Attendant, discovering her passion for working amongst students.

Currently, Jada is pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Sciences with an emphasis in Higher Education, driven by her dedication to fostering engaging and supportive environments for students.

Outside of her academic and professional life, Jada loves watching romcoms, painting, spending quality time with friends, and hanging out with her dog Juno.

Ashley Kainz

Ashley (she/hers) grew up in Orangevale, a small city 20 minutes from Sacramento before attending Chico State in 2015. While Ashley was receiving her degree in Communication Design with an option in Graphic Design, she was actively working in the Housing department. Ashley worked as a Desk Attendant, Resident Advisor and a Senior Resident Advisor. After graduating Chico, she worked at a small publication company creating marketing and upkeeping their social media.

Despite Ashley enjoying the creativity of graphic design, she missed working with students within Residence Life, thus leading to the start of her passion working within Higher Education. Ashley then worked at California State University, East Bay as an Assistant Area Coordinator then later became the Area Coordinator for their freshmen communities.

Ashley has since returned to her alma mater to serving as the Residence Conduct Coordinator for North Campus (Esken, Mechoopda and Konkow). Ashley is looking forward to helping support the Resident Advisors and the rest of the Housing department in creating a welcoming community.

In Ashley's free time, she enjoys being creative through crafting and designing projects, going to the movies, playing Animal Crossing, hanging out with family & friends and curling up with a good book.
