Desk Attendant (DA)

What is a Desk Attendant

A Desk Attendant is an important part of the University Housing community that provides customer services to our students. Desk Attendants serve as our primary point of contact for our residents that provides essential day-to-day support. 

Primary Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for the Desk Attendants are

  • Support and build community among residents and staff
  • Provide friendly and patient customer service
  • Assist with resident check-in and check-out using online database
  • Maintain and check-out desk equipment
  • Assist with guest check in processes
  • Maintain the overall safety and security of the community
  • Primary point of contact for resident & guardian questions
  • Collect & provide information as requested by UH Staff
  • Other duties as assigned

The person holding this position may be considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Who Can Be a Desk Attendant

Qualifications for a Desk Attendant position

  • Able to work a minimum of 8 hours and up to 20 hours a week.
  • Availability must include weekdays and weekends, day and night shifts.
  • Be familiar with and enforce all UH and university policies.

Requirements

  • Completion of compliance training (Approx. 4 hours of work time) within the first 30 days of work. Student employees not meeting this requirement may be released from employment.
  • Must be available to work overnight and weekend hours. Overnight shifts are 12am - 2am, 12am - 4am, 2am - 6am, 4am - 8am, and 6am-8am.
