Can I come here?
You don't need insurance to visit The WellCat Health Center; visits are covered by your health fee. Present a valid Chico State ID and meet eligibility requirements. While many services are free, nominal charges apply for lab work, prescriptions, and supplies.
What's covered?
Appointments, medical visits, and basic diagnostic testing are included in the prepaid health fee. Other out-of-pocket costs are minimal and discounted.
Do I need insurance?
While not required for WellCat Health Center visits, maintaining health insurance is recommended for managing chronic illnesses or unexpected needs like ER care, hospitalization, or specialist referrals. Assistance is available for uninsured students to apply for Medi-Cal and other services.
What if I have...
No Insurance: Covered services are prepaid with your student health fee. Consider obtaining health insurance for major medical expenses.
Medical Insurance: Explore options through Covered California or see if you qualify for Medi-Cal.
Reproductive Services: Eligible low-income individuals can access low-cost family planning services through Family PACT.
Graduated: Graduated students are seen through the end of the semester of graduation. Afterward, referrals to outside services are provided.
Kaiser Permanente: WellCat Health Center services are prepaid with your student health fee; Kaiser insurance isn't accepted. Plan for ongoing medical care and prescriptions if needed.
International Students
International students must have adequate medical, medical evacuation, and repatriation insurance coverage as required by the CSU Chancellor’s Office while holding an F-1 or J-1 visa and residing in the U.S.
