Transfer Students

Business Student Advising is here to help you transition to CSU, Chico. We are excited that you have chosen a major, minor, and/or certificate in the College of Business. We look forward to assisting you toward graduation!

As a transfer student, we encourage you to be working on or have completed the lower-division core courses in the business administration (BADM) or business information systems (BSIS) majors. Completing the lower-division core courses with a C or better prior to transferring ensures that you can enroll in upper-division business courses during your first semester. For BADM the lower-division core is ACCT 201 and 202, BLAW 203, ECON 102 and 103, and MATH 108 and 107. For BSIS the lower-division core is ACCT 201 and 202, BLAW 203, ECON 102 and 103, MATH 108 and 107, and MINS 235. California Community Colleges

If you attended one or more of the California Community Colleges, you can use www.assist.org to see what courses meet lower-division requirements in your major. Contact Business Student Advising for more information. If you take a course in a summer term or concurrently while attending CSU, Chico, make sure to turn in an official transcript to the Office of the Registrar (SSC 110) to clear any completed requirements.

Other California State Universities, Universities of California, Private and/or Out-of-State Universities and Colleges

Some CSU and UC campuses have direct articulation agreements listed on www.assist.org. Most courses taken at institutions not included in assist.org will require a course-by-course evaluation to determine what is transferable toward the business majors. Your transcripts, course descriptions, and possibly syllabi will be needed to determine the equivalency of courses. Please allow time for courses to be reviewed as it requires an evaluation from the department chair for each course. After you submit your intent-to-enroll, you are welcome to email Business Student Advising for help with what will be applied toward your degree. Some courses have to be taken at CSU, Chico, such as our writing proficiency course BADM 300W, and the capstone in your major.

AP Tests

If you took AP tests in the following areas and scored a three or higher, you have earned college credit for the following business requirements. To receive credit, your official scores need to be sent to CSU, Chico (test code 4048). Other AP test information can be found in the University catalog.

• AP Calculus AB or BC = MATH 107 (which also meets area A4 of general education*)
• AP Economics-Macro = ECON 102 (which also meets area D2 of general education*)
• AP Economics-Micro = ECON 103 (which also meets area D1 of general education*)
• AP Statistics = MATH 108 (which also meets area A4 of general education*)

*Note double-counting opportunities (meeting two requirements with one course) within business and general education. MATH 108 or MATH 107 fulfills the A4 Quantitative Reasoning requirement. ECON 102 fulfills the D2 Societal Institutions requirement (in the Global Development or International Studies pathways) and ECON 103 fulfills the D1 Individual and Society requirement (in the Ethics, Justice, and Policy pathway).
